Sympathies to the Family of Rev James McRee

It is with sadness that we announce the death of the Reverend James McRee.  It 99 years of age he quietly transition Friday night.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. May the soul of your loved one be at peace with our Heavenly Father.

Mississippi BMCR mourns as we digest the news of the death of Rev James McRee.

Rev.  James McRee, a faithful BMCR member and supporter, served within the Mississippi Conference and provided leadership on the national Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR), Inc., as a founding member in 1967.  He was also a member of the Coordinating Committee for Mississippi Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century.

Rev. McRee ‘s passion for The United Methodist Church and for BMCR never wavered. The memory of his presence and spirit are fresh in our hearts and minds. Please lift up the family of our precious brother, clergyman, mentor, civil rights leader and friend, Rev James McRee.
