Death Notice and Tribute to Reverend Junius B. Dotson

With heavy hearts and sorrow, we share that on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, the Reverend Junius B. Dotson passed into eternity after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. At this time, arrangements for his final celebration are pending.

As the General Secretary of Discipleship Ministries as well as in his pastoral leadership, Reverend Dotson’s lifeline was to see all people’s lives radically transformed into being disciples of Jesus Christ who would make disciples for the transformation of the world. He shared this passion with his beloved United Methodist Church as he called upon his faith family to “See All the People” regardless of their race, nationality, gender, sexual orientation or status.

The loss of his visionary leadership will be missed. Rest now, good and faithful servant, well done.

In closing, we borrow these words from the rock performer, Dick Holler’s 1968 classic song,“Abraham, Martin and John,” ...

Anybody here seen [our] old friend [Junius]? Can you tell [us] where he’s gone? He freed a lot of people, but it seems the good they die young. [We] just looked around and he was gone

Respectfully,

- Rev. Antoine Love, BMCR, Inc. Chairperson
