National Director for Strengthening theBlack Church 21st Century

(Location: Nashville, TN)

TheNational Director for Strengthening the Black Church 21st Century – servesas an officer of Strengthening the Black Church 21stCentury (SBC 21) Coordinating Committee and shares accountability for thestrategic and operational oversight of all work related to SBC 21. 

The successful candidate must be a person ofhope and vision, deeply rooted in Christian faith and practice and have aprofound sense of the importance of the making of Christian disciples;demonstrated proficiency in planning, flexibility, organizing, leadershipdevelopment, team building, decision making; motivational skills andadministrative/organizational skills; experience working in a vitalcongregation of the United Methodist Church; knowledge of the United Methodistchurch structure and theology and membership in the United Methodist Church; demonstratedability to work collaboratively and sensitively with culturally diverse groupsand individuals; visionary, creative and critical thinking skills; knowledgeabout budgeting and fundraising; verbal and written communication skills,ability to express faith/or personal commitment to growing in faith; personalpassion for the needs of and issues related to the Black Church; computer andelectronic media skills. 

Education/ SpecializedKnowledge /Experience

Master’sDegree or equivalency /Clergy or Active Lay Member of The United MethodistChurch/ Eight to nine years of directly related work experience.
